The above verse was the original lyrics, but in Showa 16 (1941), the Ministry of Education revised the lyrics to:
さくら さくら 野山も里も 見わたす限り かすみか雲か 朝日ににおう さくら さくら 花ざかり |
VOCAB:
VERSE ONE: 霞か kasumi ka - is it a mist? いざや iza ya - come now; well now (like さあ)
VERSE TWO: かすみ kasumi - mist; haze 花ざかり hana zakari - flowers at their best |
